ARIADNE is an experimental sacred music and new media art duo whose work explores the intersection of mysticism, dream analysis and the failure of digital systems through a synthesis of music performance, digital and interactive art, poetry and dramatic experience. Much of ARIADNE’s work consists of interactive audio/visual performances, which employ custom built hardware and software, real-time 3D animation, and machine learning to create immersive and captivating experiences. ARIADNE’s span of work includes feature-length audio/visual albums, web-based virtual reality, and a/v installations. Bella is brazilian and was born in Rio de Janeiro. Lives in São Paulo. Sound artist that often works with interdisciplinary fields and collaborative works. Her work is to erase the boundaries between sound and space from a performance focused on the imperceptible movements of reality. Bella develops projects, performances and recordings exploring the relations between physical and conceptual aspects of matter and sound. Launched three albums by the label Seminal Records. Bob Bellerue

Bob Bellerue is a noise composer, experimental musician, and creative technician based in Brooklyn NY. Over the last 30 years he has been involved in a wide range of sonic activities – experimental electronic music, junk metal percussion ensembles, Balinese gamelan, sound scores for dance/ theater/ video/ performance art, and sound / video installations. His electronic sound work is focused on resonant feedback systems, using amplified instruments/ objects/ spaces/ circuits in combination with electronics and Supercollider programming. Ha-Yang Kim & Holly Fisher

NYC-based Korean-American Ha-Yang Kim creates new music as a composer and cellist, regularly collaborating with ensembles and artists at festivals and diverse performance venues throughout the world. Drawing from a breadth of western classical music, American experimentalism, rock, electronic, noise, avant-improv, to non-western sources (Balinese, South Indian, and Korean), Kim’s music is inspired by acoustic phenomena, ritual ceremonial processes, and characterized by an organic visceral lyricism of sound influenced by the East Asian sense of space and emptiness. Kim developed a unique signature language of extended string techniques and has also composed music for film, theater and multi-media. Performances throughout the US, Europe, Asia, Russia, Turkey, Morocco, Bali, Cuba, Canada. AMA, a monograph of her compositions is released on Tzadik. Her latest album Threadsuns, featuring a composition for string quartet and performed by JACK Quartet, was released on Tzadik in March 2014. She composed the original score for the documentary film, DIOR AND I, which premiered at the 2014 Tribeca Film Festival to critical acclaim.

Holly Fisher received a BA in Asian Art History at Columbia University 1964, and an MA in Cinema Studies at NYU in 1982. She lives and works in New York City. Holly Fisher has been active since the mid-sixties as an independent filmmaker, printmaker, teacher, and film editor. She was the editor of Christine Choy and Renee Tajima-Peña’s documentary Who Killed Vincent Chin? This film about a racially motivated Detroit murder case of 1982 was nominated for an Oscar in 1989. Her experimental short works and long-form essay films, explorations in time, memory and perception, have been screened in museums and film festivals worldwide including Whitney Museum Biennials; Centre Pompidou, Paris; Film Forum, Japan; and two world premieres in The Forum of the Berlinale, Germany. She has received multiple grants from The Jerome Foundation, NYSCA, CAPS, and The American Film Institute, among others. Her silent film Rushlight won the Grand Prize in the 1985 Black Maria Film Festival, and her feature Bullets for Breakfast received “Best Experimental Film Award” at the Ann Arbor Film Festival, 1992. In 1995 the New York Museum of Modern Art presented the solo retrospective “The Films of Holly Fisher.”

Jenn Grossmann

Jenn Grossman is a sound and experiential media artist based in Brooklyn. She composes psycho-spatially, treating objects and spaces as acoustic portals into the surreal or subconscious. This has taken the form of installations, sound sculpture, ambient performance, public interventions, sound walks, and collaborations with dancers and filmmakers. She has installed works, performed, and presented papers at various venues, festivals and conferences such as Knockdown Center, Governor’s Island, Harvestworks, the MoMA PS1 Printshop, Pioneer Works, the New York Transit Museum, Reverse Gallery, Open Source Gallery, for the Megapolis Audio Festival, CT::SWaM, the Mixed Signals series, the Quadrophonic series, Standing Waves, the Deep Listening Conference’s Cistern Dream Session, the Sounds, Images & Data Conference, Brown’s OPENSIGNAL Festival, the Women in Sound/Women on Sound Symposium in Lancaster, Sound Signatures at the University of Amsterdam, the FOOT Festival in Toronto, and in public spaces such as the park archways and tunnels, garbage cans, and stairwells. More info:


Jim Haynes

Jim Haynes resides in California, and has exhibited internationally at the San Francisco Museum Of Modern Art, the Lausanne Underground Film Festival, the Berkeley Art Museum, WestSpace (Melbourne, Australia), and Diapason (New York). Recorded media has been published through Editions Mego, Ghostly International, Drone Records, Hooker Vision, Intransitive, Semperflorens, Elevator Bath, and The Helen Scarsdale Agency. He has also been awarded residencies at the Djerassi Resident Artists Program (California), Recombinant Media Labs (California), Jack Straw Productions (Seattle), and MoKS (Estonia). He has participated in a number of fruitful collaborations with Loren Chasse, Keith Evans, Steven Stapleton, and M.S. Waldron. Until 2015, he was the Vice President and Curatorial Director for 23five Incorporated, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the development and increased awareness of sound arts within the public arena. Through 23five, he co-curated the 2003 San Francisco Electronic Music Festival and the Activating The Medium Festivals from 2007 to 2012. He has written extensively on sound art, noise culture, minimalism, and general music experimentation for The Wire, The San Francisco Bay Guardian, Metro Pulse, The Sound Projector, and Chunklet.

Lily Jue Sheng makes moving image-based work with film, video, multi-projection performance, installation, and 2D mixed media. She graduated from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, MA, and is currently based in Brooklyn, NY. She exhibits in a wide range of contexts such as museums, galleries, universities, film festivals, cinematheques, performance venues, large-scale building projections, electronic billboards, and other unique spaces. Her work has screened at the Whitney Museum of American Art, Parrish Art Museum, Eyebeam, Mono No Aware, Microscope Gallery, Pioneer Works, and the Knockdown Center in New York; the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston; the Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal in Montreal; the 1933 Slaughterhouse (老场坊) and West Bund Art & Design Fair in Shanghai; and 3331 Arts Chiyoda in Tokyo.

Multi-Instrumentalist Luke Stewart is a DC-based musician. As a solo artist, his recent interests are in compiling a series of improvisational sound structures for Upright Bass and Amplifier, utilizing the resonant qualities of the instrument to explore real-time harmonic and melodic possibilities. He has performed at the Kennedy Center, the Atlas Performing Arts Center, Smithsonian Portrait Gallery, 9:30 Club, Black Cat, and many others throughout DC’s storied DIY community. He has been a featured artist at the Vision Festival, Sonic Circuits Festival of Experimental Music, High Zero Festival of Experimental Improvised Music, Fields Festival, Philadelphia Free Form Festival, Forward Festival, Furious Flower Poetry Festival, and has toured abroad at North Sea Jazz Festival, Toulouse Jazz Festival, Vitoria Jazz Festival, Belgrade Jazz Festival, and Rotterdam Jazz Festival. XTAL fSCK (Jon Satrom & Jason Soliday)

XTAL fSCK is Satrom & Soliday. Jon Satrom and Jason Soliday have been collaborating for over a decade under various guises, including: I♥PRESETS, Magic Missile, Faulty Majick, XTAL FSCK and Soliday & Satrom. Their audio, video and new media work stems from a profound distrust of audio, video and new media. XTAL FSCK floods the uncanny valley with sonic magniloquence, optical splinters, and extremely articulate gibbering. 


Amanda Gutiérrez has worked in the field of video and sound art for over 12 years, fusing the two disciplines in installation projects. She has been exhibited internationally in museums, and contemporary art galleries, such as The Windor Gallery in Madrid, Spain, Khiasma Gallery in Paris, France, Move Forward Festival in Halle, Germany, Liverpool Art Biennale 2012 in the UK, Ex Teresa Arte Actual in Mexico City, Mexico, and Action Art Actuelle in Montreal, Canada. Born in Mexico City in 1978, she completed her graduate studies at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago and is currently a Ph.D. student in the University of Girona, in the Doctoral Programme in Humanities, Heritage, and Cultural Studies. Birch Cooper is a New York and Portland based artist who works in a variety of mediums including electronic music, digital sculpture, interactive installation and synthesizer design. Vis work centers around collaboration and integrated systems often resulting in immersive environments with a focus on musical structure and cybernetics. Ve is a founding member of the art/music collectives MSHR and Oregon Painting Society. Cooper currently performs under vis own name and in MSHR, using electronic systems of vis own design. Vis electronic music and digital art practices are in a state of constant feedback- the formal structures and generative techniques used in each medium are informed by one another.

Campbell James Kneale first came to the attention of bedroom-bound music fans through the meditative end of New Zealands 'freenoise' scene that flourished in the mid 1990s. For the next 20-something years he has persued a singular vision with a ruthless work-ethic under plethora of monikers, Birchville Cat Motel, Black Boned Angel, and Our Love Will Destroy The World being the most visible. Crank Sturgeon is a theatrical troupe whose name is derived from a fictional character that appeared in the novels of the late Max Sanderson (Prof. Emeritus, South Harpswell Institute of Technology) (d. 1992). Featuring an ever-changing cast, the group is dedicated to performing the mundane tasks of this dramatis personae through the use of karaoke, thrift store appliances, and no-budget media.

Don Haugen is a composer, sonic experimenter, and visual designer based in Eugene, Oregon, USA. Since the late 1980’s; Haugen started exploring sound with tapes, oscillators, mixer feedback, contact mics and found objects. His current work merges home built electronics and re-purposed test instruments to create sonic texture-scapes. He has composed for performance artists, sound installations, film and ensembles. Haugen is curator and founder of the Eugene Noise Festival, which started in 2005 and continues today.

Emily Pelstring & Katherine Kline:
Emily Pelstring is a media artist whose work deals with gender, technology and regimes of representation through surreal fictions. In her installation work, these fictions extend across the motion picture, gallery, and performance site. Her films and installations have been shown internationally in galleries and festivals, including Transmediale Berlin, Seoul International New Media Festival, Antimatter Media Art Festival, Ann Arbor Film Festival, FoFA Gallery, PDA Projects, Khyber Centre for the Arts, Judith and Norman Alix Art Gallery, Galerie La Centrale, among others. Since 2010, she has directed music videos for numerous collaborators and clients. Eric Ostrowski is a freely-improvising musician and experimental filmmaker based in Seattle, WA. He played guitar and violin as one half of the legendary improv-noise duo of Noggin from 1993-2006. He is currently exploring solo violin performance – electro-acoustic noise that integrates sound and movement. He is also developing his handmade film and expanded cinema style, which he has been working with for over 20 years.

Artist/writer/film-maker GX Jupitter-Larsen is based in Hollywood, California. As writer & director, Omniwave Refresher is GX's latest in a long line of film and video projects. In a piece entitled Blank Banner, during the 1980s, GX submitted a silent blank video tape to over forty video festivals. It was screened in nine. GX's 1994 vampire romp Holes On The Neck still enjoys a passionate cult following to this day. Omniwave Refresher is in three acts. The first is done as a kind of documentary. The second act is a puppet show, and the third act is a live action reenactment of the puppet show. Omniwave Refresher is about a scientist who, after a failed experiment of some incomprehensible nature, heads off on a journey to find her meaning of life.

JEREMY D. SLATER is a multi-disciplinary artist working in the areas of sound, video, computer art, performance, and installation. Born in Reading, England and a graduate of both SUNY College at Buffalo and School of Visual Arts with an MFA in Computer Art. Performances include sound and live performed video that is ambient and sometimes interactive/reactive. Video work includes single and multiple channel videos for screening and installations with sound and ephemeral sculpture. He is currently curator of "sonic front", a series exploring electroacoustic improvisation, electronic music, and sound art. He's curated numerous performance events and gallery shows in New York including “A Sound Show” at Front Room Gallery, the sound/video performance series “kere.u” and “FLOW”, “Sun Khronos” at Millennium Film Workshop, and “Video as an Instrument” at The Tank and Supreme Trading Gallery. Jeremy Slater was one of the 1999 recipients of the Computer Art Fellowship from New York Foundation of the Arts (NYFA) and has attended the Experimental Television Residency, was guest musician at Watermill Center and HERE with Cave/Leimay, and was artist in residence at Seoul Art Space_Geumcheon in Seoul, South Korea. Katherine Liberovskaya is an intermedia artist based in New York City and Montreal, Canada. Involved in experimental video since the 80s, she has produced many single-channel videos, video installation works and video and music performances which have been presented at a wide variety of events and venues around the world. Among these: MOMA PS1 PrintShop NYC; The Duolun Museum and The Aurora Museum, Shanghai, China; The Museum of Arts and Design, NYC; The Bitola Museum, Macedonia (FYROM); The Tito Museum, Belgrade, Serbia; The Kyoto University Museum, Japan; The Serralves Contemporary Art Museum, Porto, Portugal; The Roskilde Museum of Contemporary Art, Denmark; The National Center for Contemporary Art, Moscow, Russia; The Beirut Art Center, Lebanon; The Contemporary Art Center Bunkier Sztuki, Krakow, Poland... Phill Niblock is an intermedia artist using music, film, photography, video and computers. He makes thick, loud drones of music, filled with microtones of instrumental timbres which generate many other tones in the performance space. Simultaneously, he presents films / videos which look at the movement of people working, slides, or computer driven black and white abstract images floating through time. He was born in Indiana in 1933. Since the mid-60's he has been making music and intermedia performances which have been shown at numerous venues around the world. Since 1985, he has been the director of the Experimental Intermedia Foundation in New York where he has been an artist/member since 1968. He is the producer of Music and Intermedia presentations at EI since 1973 (about 1000 performances) and the curator of EI's XI Records label. In 1993 was formed an Experimental Intermedia organization in Gent, Belgium - EI v.z.w. Gent - to support the artist-in-residence house and installations there. Niblock has no formal musical training. His minimalistic drone approach to composition and music was inspired by the musical and atistic activities of New York in the 1960s (from the art of Mark Rothko, Carl Andre, Sol LeWitt, Donald Judd, Robert Morris to the music of John Cage and Morton Feldman's Durations pieces). Niblock's music is an exploration of sound textures created by multiple tones in very dense, often atonal tunings (generally microtonal in conception) performed in long durations. The layering of long tones only very slightly distinct in pitch creates a multitude of beats and generates complex overtone patterns and other fascinating psychoacoustic effects. The combination of apparently static surface textures and extremely active harmonic movement generates a highly original music that, while having things in common with early drone-based Minimalism, is utterly distinct in sound and technique. Niblock's work continues to influence a generation of musicians, especially younger players from a variety of musical genres. Much of his pieces are based on collaborations with specific musicians. Over the years he has thus worked with a large number of the most diverse players including: Susan Stenger, Robert Poss, Jim O'Rourke, Ulrich Krieger, Seth Josel, Tom Buckner, David Watson, David First, String Noise (Pauline Kim Harris and Conrad Harris), and many many others. In recent years retrospectives of his work have been held in Lausanne, Switzerland and Brno, Czech Republic and works have been presented at the Tate Modern, London and the Centre George Pompidou, Paris, France, among numerous other venues. He is the recipient of the prestigious 2014 Foundation for Contemporary Arts John Cage award. His music is available on the XI, Moikai, Mode Records, and Touch labels. Long Distance Poison is the Brooklyn based experimental electronics project of Nathan Cearley and Erica Bradbury. Through a developed process that uses generative systems, pseudo randomness, improvisation, layering, spectral modulation, drone and noise, LDP creates music that constructs a temporary relation to the mystery. They have performed at the the Basilica Hudson 24-Hour Drone Festival, The Wassaic Project, the MOMA PS1 NY Art Book Fair, the Voice of the Valley Noise Festival, the Ende Tymes Festival, at Pioneer Works as part of a Clocktower Gallery residency, scored multiple films for Nitehawk Cinema’s Live Sound Cinema series, screened a video at the Codec Festival in Mexico City and recently completed a video synthesis project called Rheomodes with a performance and installation at Printed Matter. Mikey Peterson is a Chicago-based video-audio artist, singer-songwriter, and art educator. He creates video art that focuses on distortion, organic abstraction, and sound - equally influenced by pre-CGI science fiction films, experimental cinema, and sound collage. Nick Hoffman is a composer and multidisciplinary artist working across the fields of algorithmic composition, generative music, and medieval music. He holds an MM in Intermedia Music Technology from the University of Oregon. He has held performances throughout Japan, Korea, China, Mexico, and the United States. A frequent collaborator, he has worked with Aaron Zarzutzki, Devin DiSanto, Ryu Hankil, Hong Chulki, Takahiro Kawaguchi, Utah Kawasaki, Bonnie Jones, Guilty Connector, and Tim Olive. In 2009, he founded the Pilgrim Talk record label specializing in limited edition releases on analog formats. Noriko Nakano & Pete Drungle:
Born in Japan, ​Noriko Nakano is a multimedia artist who lives and works in New York. Her love of art and music started in her early age when she started taking lessons of ballet. Her curiosity and searching of her identity as an artist led to come to New York right after 9/11 and stayed at renown Chelsea Hotel. She was dancing or taking photography more than talking as tools to express. She has been collaborating with artists, musicians and designers beyond category, Man Parish, Michael A. Paul J Botelho & Russell J Chartier:
Russell J. Chartier attended the College of Santa Fe. Since that time he has spent many years working in Broadcast Television working for various networks including A&E, The History Channel, YES Network and several others. His work in the Video Art Medium explores multiple layers and focuses heavily on texture and color. Many of the images in his works are distorted and manipulated in various unorthodox in an attempt to create a visual depth where recognizable images will appear within the collage of manipulated images and textures.
Paul J. Botelho is a composer, performer, developer, and artist whose work includes acoustic and electro-acoustic music, multimedia installation pieces, visual art works, vocal improvisation, and a series of one-act operas. He performs as a vocalist primarily with extended technique and incorporates the voice into much of his music. His work has been performed, presented, and exhibited in concerts, festivals, galleries, and museums across the Americas, Europe, and Asia. Botelho received a Ph.D. and M.F.A. in Music Composition from Princeton University, an M.A. in Electro-Acoustic Music from Dartmouth College, and a B.F.A. in Contemporary Music Performance and Composition from the College of Santa Fe. Leading figure of the French experimental music scene, co-founder of the Étant Donnés duo in 1977, Marc Hurtado has a polymorphic course of performer, poet, visual artist and musician. Hurtado worked with Alan Vega and Martin Rev (Suicide), Gabi Delgabo (DAF), Genesis P. Orridge (Psychic TV, Throbbing Gristle), Michael Gira (Swans), Mark Cunningham (Mars), Z'ev, Philippe Grandrieux, Lydia Lunch and the Master Musicians of Jajouka. He made thirty albums and more than 500 concerts / performances. His work has been programmed in many institutions, including the French Cinematheque and exhibited in major art centers such Beaubourg in Paris and the MoMa in New York. 

Raven Chacon is a composer of chamber music, a performer of experimental noise music, and an installation artist. He performs regularly as a solo artist as well as with numerous ensembles in the Southwest USA, and is also a member of the collective Postcommodity. Chacon has presented his work in different contexts at ABC No Rio, REDCAT, La Biennale di Venezia - Biennale Musica, San Francisco Electronic Music Festival, Ende Tymes Festival, 18th Biennale of Sydney, The Kennedy Center, Whitney Biennial and documenta 14. Scant Intone is the solo project of Canadian artist Constantine Katsiris, dedicated to experiments in modern audio with a wide ranging output from stark minimalist tones to densely complex textures. Composing electronic music since the mid-1990s, he has refined a unique sound palette that incorporates elements of field recordings, radio frequencies, hand-drawn waveforms, raw data, and digital sound synthesis. His works have been broadcast around the world, and showcased in exhibitions, screenings, and installations at galleries, festivals, and venues such as Whitechapel Art Gallery [London], Brut Konzerthaus [Vienna], KNOT Arts [Athens], and SESI Art & Cultural Center [São Paulo]. Intent on immersing viewers in surreal spaces, Vancouver’s Ian Ross, aka C130, uses footage he shoots himself, 3D motion graphics, and found footage to craft multi-layered, music-reactive, geometrically patterned visuals. A notable fixture in Vancouver’s techno underground, he has created A/V shows for Orphx, Carl Craig, Dasha Rush, Efdemin, ASC, Chambers, Kafka, and several other producers and musicians since 2013. Syd Miller imagines their art as flexible, mutable, able to take a punch, and simultaneously anticipatory of its own destruction and the most aesthetically compelling way to spill its innards. The films, writing, visual art, audio, and performance they produce is wiry, scraggly material to continually fold in on itself that refuses to forget the storylines of hurt and revenge of the larger body of work it drags behind itself. Thomas D. Rotenberg is a writer, video artist, and curator currently based in Brooklyn, NY. A graduate of NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, his written and visual works revolve around memory, time, and technology, and the often symbiotic relationship shared by all three as they inform and distort our perception of the past, present, and future. His short films and video art pieces have shown across the United States and Europe, his curatorial work has been featured on Noisey and Invisible Oranges, and he has appeared on NY1 promoting public art in Brooklyn. Thomas is currently working a documentary detailing the exploits and history of absurdist underground prank caller Longmont Potion Castle.
