BIOs:

886VG

886VG is harsh noise from Chile, South America. Has been releasing stuff since 2006, with over 80 releases. Also runs a DIY noise label and organizes shows as No Brain Prods. Recently relocated to BCN, Spain. This move also brought the implementation of a PC in the setup after historically been an analogue centered act. Starting as a visceral no compromised outlet, through the years it has produced noise that ranges from slow developing walls to dynamic layered stuff. Lo-fi crap productions to well done stuff, the last years show a clear compromise with the cut-up realm. fast is good. Tight friendship with the Chilean punk scene also. 2012 European tour, "Speed Water Freedom" 2018 European tour, 2015 Ecuador tour, organizer of the first Latin American harsh noise fest (Harsh Fest Santiago Chile).

Colin Andrew Sheffield & Andrew Anderson

Colin Andrew Sheffield was born in El Paso, Texas and now lives in Austin. He is the founder of the Elevator Bath record label (founded in 1998) and has released a number of solo recordings on labels such as Auf Abwegen, Glistening Examples, Mystery Sea, and more, in addition to several collaborative releases and performances with turntablist, James Eck Rippie as well as with David Reed (as The Palladists) and with Andrew Anderson (their duo cassette release is forthcoming from the Grisaille label). Since the mid-’90s, Colin Andrew Sheffield’s audio collage work has consistently focused on the use of samples: deconstructed loops of hidden textures and timbres found in his collection of physical media. Sheffield’s most recent solo LP, “Images” (Elevator Bath, 2023), was entirely crafted from samples from jazz records; it has been critically acclaimed/championed by Soundohm, Bandcamp, and Brainwashed, among others. Photo by Ellie Alonzo

Andrew Anderson, based in Portland OR, creates sound pieces out of carefully curated field recordings, hidden samples, destroyed tape, and various instruments, both electronic and analog, with a focus on quiet repetition, drone, and patient change. The formative rhythms of summertime lawn mowers, passing airplanes, and cawing crows from the backyard of his childhood in the Pacific Northwest inform his unique ear and subtle sensibilities. He explores global themes of changing climates, political upheaval, human and animal rights, and all the liminal spaces in between, as well as more personal topics such as self-growth and social anxiety, with several self-releases, on both cassette and digital formats, as well as the project THAA with Thor Harris (Swans, Thor & Friends, Shearwater, Angels of Light, etc.) In 2022 he joined the label Elevator Bath for his latest solo release, "Vagrancies:" a ghostly meditation on the chaos of the last several years.

Crank Sturgeon x War Hippy

Crank Sturgeon has been at it for over two decades and countless timezones. Whether he's directing an orchestra using cue cards, fingerprinting six hundred art patrons' middle fingers, or leading a midnight parade -- wearing thirty gallons of water in each pant leg -- these impositions create an intersection between comfort and calamity. It is this junction, the marriage of unlikeable strategies with cocksure optimism, that has become Crank Sturgeon's trademark

War Hippy is a Noise duo based out of Los Angeles consisting of Cole Miller (Vortal Curb/Human Hands/Toxic Loincloth) and Jess Coble (The Zero Collective/Island of Misfit Toys/NovaHead vs ChickenTron). Focusing on the moment of inspired creation amidst the rubble; following the destruction/decimation of all you have held dear

Maiden

MAIDEN is the solo experimental noise project of violinist, improviser and composer, Salma Zenia. MAIDEN occupies the space within the spectral underworld exploring new translations of noise, dissonance and visceral meditations on rhythm to create haunting and melancholy soundscapes. Drawing from her long standing practice with the violin, MAIDEN re-imagines the traditional gestures of the acoustic instrument through the combination of expanded playing techniques, radical methods of free improvisation and creative use of modular electronics. Her etheric approach to composition addresses themes of everchanging human consciousness in a decaying physical world and seeks to take the listener through abstract textures of sonicity to expose the unseen and sublime. Salma is currently based in Seattle, WA while she studies contemporary violin performance and composition at Cornish College of the Arts.

Moss Harvest

Moss Harvest is a recording project currently based out of Halifax (Canada) since 2014, strictly focused on magnetic tape manipulation and has manifested as dozens of self released artifacts in alongside more formal releases on labels such as Total Black, Strange Rules & Vaknar and domestically with Summer Isle, Deep Sea Mining Syndicate, and Buried In Slag And Debris. Live performances have become exceedingly rare in recent years, especially outside of the Maritimes. This will be the first stateside appearance of the project. Photo by Michael Grondin

Moth Drakula

Moth Drakula are an aggressive experimental duo once based in Redondo Beach, CA. Formed in 2003, they nourished their twisted roots of DIY hardcore, with a steady diet of early industrial and musique concrète to become cult fixtures in the LA noise scene of the early 00s. The group’s use of organic samples, vocal manipulation, broken synths, tapes; all processed through and lifted by blistered electronics help to create textured atmospheres that plunge headlong into violent waves of sonic abrasion. These broken arrangements express the absolute freedom and zero expectations or ambitions of their creators. Moth Drakula’s sound is a twisted reflection in the blazing inferno of musical detritus that was left behind in their suburb of Los Angeles.

Mound Of Glass

Hailing from Ithaca NY, Mound of Glass is the recent duo of Seven Caso (Stinkmeat, Hostility Glutton, Scab Addict) and Weston Czerkies (Magnetic Coroner, Form Hunter, Sunken Cheek) . The group's sonic focus is on a minimalist approach to creating webs of psychic paranoia and loose tension using mic'ed objects, feedback and tape-work. While employing the usual tools of their brasher projects, Mound of Glass instead veers off in a different direction into an alternative world built with more restraint and subtlety. Still under construction, one strand at a time.
Their debut cassette can be expected to be released on Gracious Host this spring. Live photo by Bubba Crumrine.
